Third oldest city in Brazil, João Pessoa has a history dating back more than 420 years (established in 1585), has well kept monuments and vast preserved areas of forest, which is one of its strongest characteristics, and is why João Pessoa gained the title of the Second greenest city in the world, only second to Paris.
The city, that all started on the banks of the River Sanhauá, grew towards the Atlantic ocean. The beautiful beaches also are a trademark of João Pessoa. João Pessoa boasts a privileged coastline, delivering beaches to it's visitors, which vary from calm waters with lively atmosphere, to more dramatic deserted beaches.
On the 5th of August 1585, João Pessoa was founded.
