Bahia

Located among the states of Sergipe, Alagoas, Pernambuco and Piauí (north), Goiás and Tocantins (west), Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo (south), Bahia occupies an area of 566.978 sq kilometers divided into 416 cities and 32 micron regions. 

Bahia has a scenery of rare beauty, where the nature lays absolute with all its charm. The ecological tourism is practiced in mountains, cliffs and canyons. Crystalline water springs from the stones abundantly forming belatiful waterfalls. There are approximately 45 waterfalls spread all over the Parque das Cachoeiras. The Chapada Diamantina Park ponders the largest collection of grottos and caves of Bahia. 

It is also there that happens one of the most famous carnivals of Brazil with Trios Elétricos (a kind of truck equipped with a high power sound system and a music group on top of it, playing for the crowd) atracting many people. Its marvelous and diversified cookery (moquecas, mariscadas, carurus, acarajés and abarás), the ceramic’s craft, the local festivities and dances (Samba Groups, Capoeira, Folia de Reis, Bumba-Meu-Boi, Afoxé), and its 365 Catholic churches in Salvador, are peculiarities of this wonderful state. 

There are a lot of investments in the state, approximately 20 projects are intending to instal up to 2010 companies in many cities of Bahia. The state counts at least 20 projects of industries in the footwear, clothe and textile sectors. With these numbers the state hopes to considerable increase the number of employments, improving the population purchasing power among other steps for the states economic development.
