Alagoas

Located among the states of Pernambuco, Sergipe and Bahia, it has an area of 29.107 sq kilometers divided into 100 cities spread over  13 micron regions.  

The name Alagoas is due to the number of lakes in the region. Its capital is Maceió, that has beautiful warm water beaches full of gardens of coconut palms. With a typical coastal environment, Maceió is known for its swamps, calm beaches, and some beaches where people can pactice surf, windsurf and body-board.  

We can find in Maceió the best regional handcraft such as braided fabrics like rendas, filé, labirinto, renascença, redendê, boa-noite, woodcarvers art and ouricuri’s art in straw.
Alagoas is one of the few states with trees older than 500 years. The Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres’ Cathedral, built in 1840, the Deodoro Theatre and the Municipal Market are places where typical handcrafts can be found. The Pierre Chalita’s Art Gallery and Museum is also a sightseeing place.
 
According to an IBGE research, Alagoas has the second best Human Development Rate of Brazil which also means that the Northeastern region has been reducing the population inequality more than other regions. Moreover, the state is developing a project of great importance joined to the Industrial Federation, motivating people to save energy and its integrated management in companies development, among other projects that benefits the whole state and future investors.
